Shaving for Cancer

Ellenbrook Christian College students and staff shave their heads for Cancer

The Ellenbrook Christian College community rallied together to support The Worlds Greatest Shave on Thursday, 3 June 2021, to raise funds for blood cancer.

It was a fun-filled day as students and staff enjoy a free dress day, hair spray and a Sausage Sizzle lunch before six students and two staff shaved their heads in memory of those who have lost their precious hair to Cancer.

A total of $16 000.00 was raised on the day, with student Mackenzie Broun (Year 12 student) raising a staggering $7600.00 on her own. The organisers of the Worlds Greatest Shave acknowledged Mackenzie as one of the highest individual fundraisers in Australia this year.

“Early this year, my Mum was diagnosed with cancer, and one of the hardest things for her was losing her hair. So I wanted to raise funds to help find a cure for cancer and to donate my hair to be made into wigs”, said Mackenzie Broun.

The days’ activities finished with an all-school assembly where the six students and two staff members shaved their heads.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and donated so generously.
