The Literacy Workshop has been designed to equip parents with the skills needed to help their children learn individual sounds (synthetic phonics). It will also provide valuable advice to parents of EAL/D (English as Additional Language or Dialect) students in how to assist their child in literacy learning.
The focus of the workshop will be on the importance of oral language development as well as developing excellent “beginner” phonological reading skills up to Year 2 level.
The workshop will demonstrate:
- how to explicitly instruct a child to learn phonics
- how to use resources to create fun learning experiences.
This workshop will be conducted by Mrs Rene Araque, who is an experienced early years teacher.
The invitation is open to anyone with children in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2 who are interested in upskilling in this area.
