Staff Profile: Meet ECC’s New Business Manager – Peter Drew

At the end of last term, we farewelled our beloved Business Manager, Craig Choveaux. ECC staff gathered to honour Mr Choveaux for his many years of dedicated service to SCEA as he steps into a well-earned retirement.

We are pleased to announce that Mr Peter Drew has been appointed as our new Business Manager. Mr Drew brings over 25 years of experience in business management and finance, having worked across a diverse range of industries including beverages, mining, oil and gas services, agriculture, mobile accessories, and TAFE education.

Originally from Melbourne and one of five siblings, Mr Drew moved to Perth in 1999, where he proposed to his wife, Amy, and began a new chapter in Western Australia. The couple recently celebrated 25 years of marriage and have three children – Max (21), Tessa (18), and Jake (14). The Drew family are active members of Morley Baptist Church, where Mr Drew serves as treasurer.

When he’s not in business attire, you might spot Mr Drew enjoying a round of golf or proudly wearing a Carlton Blues jersey – a loyalty he’s quick to defend, having become a fan at just five years old “back when they were in their prime!”

Reflecting on what led him to apply for the role, Mr Drew shared,
“I recently came to a point in my career where I had a strong sense that God was leading me into working for a Christian organisation that shared my values and faith. From there, the Business Manager role presented as an amazing opportunity. I really connected with the vision and aspirations of SCEA, and ECC’s mission and values – creating an environment where children have the opportunity to reach their potential and be presented with the gospel message in word and deed.”

We are thrilled to welcome Mr Drew to the ECC team and look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our College community.

NAIDOC Week at ECC

Last week, our Primary School celebrated NAIDOC week. Primary staff organised fun and interactive activities that allowed students to gain a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture. This year, the focus was on handprints and their significance in Aboriginal art. Students were encouraged to decorate their hand stencil as a way of showing appreciation to First Nations peoples and their culture.

Senior Athletics Carnival 2025

At the end of Term 2, our Secondary students competed in the Athletics Carnival, showcasing their skills in events such as long jump, discus, shot put, high jump, and track. The day was filled with energy, sportsmanship and strong house spirit. Congratulations to all who participated and to those recognised at the recent Secondary Assembly for their outstanding performances.

We are incredibly proud of our talented students, with several standout athletes breaking long-standing ECC records. History was made on the day, as these record-breaking efforts marked new milestones in our school’s sporting achievements. There is no doubt we have some rising sports stars in our midst.
