Our History

Ellenbrook Christian College officially opened its doors in the year 2001, being the first SCEA school to open without a majority of Christian families.

The focus of the College was to cater for the surrounding community and was largely benefited through the pioneering work of Ms Doreen Smith and founding Principal Mr Jack Joyce, who served from 2001 to 2004.

Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA) began Ellenbrook Christian College as a missional project that sought to cater for all part of the local suburbs, welcoming people of all faiths and denominations.

The Association adopted a missional focus and the desire to see God’s word spread to all those in the wider community was very evident in each strategic decision made by the College in its early days.

In 2004, Greg Wells took over as Principal, having served as Principal in a number of other SCEA schools since 1984.

Mr Wells served with distinction until 2014, growing the College to a record number of students.

Mr. Steven Coote was appointed Principal in 2014 and the College saw the addition of a Pre-Kindergarten program.

In 2016, Mr. Justin Krause was appointed as Principal and was succceded in 2019 by Mr. Mike Pitman.

Mike has taught and served in leadership in multiple roles across SCEA over the past few decades.

This included being the Principal at Kalamunda Christian School and the Junior School of Midland Christian School (now Swan Christian College).

Mike recently spent ten years in various leadership roles at The Scots College in Sydney, before returning to SCEA in 2018 for a role at Southern Hills Christian College before starting at Ellenbrook Christian College.

In 2021, Ellenbrook Christian College celebrated 20 years of Christian schooling.

Staff and students, past and present enjoyed a celebratory evening in late 2021 to commemorate the occasion.

The staff at Ellenbrook Christian College feel very privileged to be able to provide Christian education to the community of Ellenbrook and pray they are afforded this opportunity for years to come.
