A few of our Year 12 Student Leaders had the opportunity to meet with WA Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti on Friday afternoon. The meeting took place at the newly opened Ellenbrook Train Station, launched in December 2024 as part of the METRONET project, a major initiative led by the WA Labor Government with significant involvement from Minister Saffioti. Students boarded the train accompanied by Principal Michelle Schouten, Mrs Saffioti and her team.
Mrs Saffioti shared an exciting update about the upcoming projects happening in Ellenbrook, including a swimming facility which will be located right next to the METRONET Ellenbrook Line, which is predicted to be completed sometime next year. The train made a brief stop at the Whiteman Park Train Station, where Minister Saffioti and her team led the students and Mrs Schouten on a walk-through of the award-winning architectural building and its facilities.
Our students spoke about how the new rail line will open up greater access to university and future career pathways. It was a meaningful conversation about progress, connection, and what lies ahead for the next generation.
We can’t wait to welcome back Minister Saffioti to our upcoming 25-Year Celebration on the 12th of September, which will be the event of the official unveiling of the New Sports Pavilion currently under construction on the ECC school oval. This sports pavilion will serve as a hub for our students to use during sporting events and for local sporting groups to utilise. We are greatly appreciative of the Cook Government for providing the funding for this facility as part of the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook line project.
